Jim Williams

Jim Williams has been highly regarded as a builder of quality guitars since 1977. He lives in Jervis Bay, Australia where he makes nylon and steel string acoustic guitars as well as mandolins. His beautiful and unique instruments are in high demand resulting in a reputation that is growing with every guitar made. Gerard Gilet

Gerard is a Sydney based guitar maker who has been at the forefront of steel string acoustic and classical guitar design in Australia since 1976. A fantastic new concert guitar from Gerard Gilet. European Spruce top and arched Brazilian Rosewood back/ sides. Although from the modern Australian school, Gerard's guitars have a more refined, traditional tone than other makers building in this style.


Graham Caldersmith

One of the Australian luthiers in the modern "Smallman" style. Graham Caldersmith is based in Comboyne, NSW and has been a full time luthier since 1978.He has completed formal acoustic studies in Australia, Stockholm and the USA and undertaken independent research into musical acoustics. Using his comprehensive background in acoustics and woodwork, he has become known as one of the pioneers of the Australian lattice-style guitars, and the leading exponent of the various guitar family instruments. Graham Caldersmith Treble Guitar

Graham Caldersmith "Treble Guitar" (Requinto) 2nd hand $2700 AUD

Cedar top with Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. "Sometimes known by the South American name, requinto, as it’s tuned 5 semitones above a normal guitar. However, the acoustics of the treble guitar are different in that it has a big, sweet sound whereas the requinto has a short, sharp, ‘mandolin-like’ sound. String length is 52cm, enabling the treble to be strung with normal strings. The body is significantly smaller, as is the scale.


John "Ben" Hall

Ben has returned to guitar making after a 20 year diversion building Cellos etc. He has developed a new 'half-lattice' bracing pattern with subtle Fleta influences giving his guitars an earthy yet powerful, traditional tone.

From the Blue Mountains, Bruce builds both tradtional and lattice braced instruments using only the highest grade timbers available. Mastergrade Western Red Cedar soundboard, Indian Rosewood back and sides. Bruce's lattice guitar are a beautiful cross between old and new. The bracing, although lattice, is European spruce as opposed to the more common balsa/carbon fibre. These are very responsive lightly built instruments.

Kim Lissarrague European Spruce/Ziricote back & sides $7950 AUD

Kim's latest spruce concert guitar is a winner on all levels. It is loud but sweet with a wide variety of tone colour, is gorgeous to look at and easy to play. Kim is known for his immaculate build quality but his (water-based lacquer) finish seems to have gone to another level in the looks department but remains thin and pliable. Huge!


Tony Morison
Tony produces a small number of fine quality classical guitars from his workshop in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. While he makes both traditional and lattice braced guitars he is drawn to makers such as Fleta, Romanillos and Hauser.

A fine French polished cedar/Amazon rosewood concert guitar. This instrument is built in the traditional seven fan Hauser style except with a cedar top. It has an extended 20th fret fingerboard and is warm, sweet, with strong projection and very playable.
