The Klon Centaur is a highly sought after and massively imitated guitar overdrive pedal originally developed by Bill Finnegan between 1990 and 1994. The KTR features the same circuit, but uses surface-mount technology to make the pedal smaller than the original, and to make it compatible with larger production runs.
The Klon is famous for it’s clear, uncoloured tone of the boosted signal. Innovative and unique characteristics of the KTR are the use of a IC MAX1044 voltage converter and two germanium diodes which generate internal signal clipping. The gain knob is a double potentiometer, which controls bass and middle frequencies. Other controls are treble and volume. The Klon is used by legendary guitarists such as Jeff Beck, Warren Haynes and John Mayer.
